First off, great video! I was wondering though, dosen't the FAA require you to have oxygen while passing 10,000 feet? Thanks - Student Pilot

Great flight, thanks for taking us along!
11,500 seems rather high for a cherokee 140 or 160. What kind of power loss do you get up there. I fly a Commander 112A and peak out with 75% power around 7,500, after 7,500 I lose about an inch on the manifold each 1,000 feet (as expected)... I flew a cherokee 161 for my training but never took it past 8,000.

@cskog001 Yes, that was about as high as we could reasonably fly given the temp, our weight, etc. After about 6 or 7k, our vs declined considerably and steadily. It took us about 40 min of climing from 1500 - 11,500. We climbed at about 90% and then cut back to ~70% for cruise.

First of all awesome video!
May I ask about your average monthly costs on the Cherokee? I started flight school a few years ago, and showed up to my lesson to a locked down building, and chain locks on the 172's!!!
Thanks, and keep the video's coming!!

It's easier to tell you the yearly costs... about $2k per year for annual and fixing a few things (no major upgrades), $50/mo tiedown (~$350/mo around here if you hangared) and $1100/yr insurance. So probably $350/mo total plus operation costs (fuel, oil, charts, etc). My brother and I split those costs, but we also sank about $60k in the plane plus we need new radios (major bucks). We have a rebuilt engine and new interior so far.
