This twisty puzzle was inspired by a post made by Hugo Mak in the Twisty Puzzle forums back on July 9th 2010. This puzzle was designed in POV-Ray by myself. (Look here.) I was able to work with Tanner Frisby (aka Steryne) via Skype to have him take my POV-Ray model and turn this into something printable via Alibre. Scott Elliott (aka VeryWetPaint) has also helped by printing some of these pieces in clear. The ones you see here were printed by Shapeways in Strong, White & Flexable. This puzzle once finished will be going to Tanner Frisby for his assistance helping me get my POV-Ray model into a printable format. THANK YOU!

This puzzle is the a Circle Mixup Cube. It is the Dethorned Cube with the thorns in place.

  • @PhiDeltaTau Yes, the plan is to put this on Shapeways eventually. Before I do I want to think a bit more about any options I can think of that may improve the stability of the puzzle. If I can't I'll get this one turning as well as I can and try to present an honest video of its issues and let the buyer be aware of them before they decide if they want to buy one.

  • @Adman234videos I'm happy with the tolerances but not the turning though I believe it has gotten a bit better since this video was made. If I made things any tighter then the puzzle would never turn and it would likely be next to impossible to assemble without breaking something. Any looser then the thorn pieces near the face centers would fall out even easier. If there is a version 3.0 it may be a complete re-design if I can think of a way to lock the thorns deeper into the puzzle.

  • Awesome! I love it!

Are you happy with the "tolerances" or will there be a 3.0?

  • Amazing! It's wonderful to finally see this thing working.

Is there any chance that this will be on Shapeways?
