@shrapnel200 probably 'cause his best friend who was his roomate, Andrew Wood, singer of seattle band that was on the uprise to fame called "Mother Love Bone" died and their debut album was Come Bite The Apple. Chris Cornell did a tribute band, "temple of the dog" for his death with matt cameron of SG and 2 others from Mother Love Bone who would later get together and form pearl jam with that eddie vedder dude. I'm pretty sure thats why its called "applebite" however :)
