Researchers at the German Research Center for Artifical Intelligence and the country's Saarland University are putting 3D graphics on the Web. The system they've developed, called XML3D, allows for 3D models to be embedded and interactive on Web sites. It's an extension to HTML, the Web's basic language.

  • unity3d says too little too late

  • @tux937534 why? radiance calculation technology are actually old.

  • @tux937534 Well, it's certainly very simplified formulation for the press but basically ray tracing can approximate physical correctness of rendering better than "classic" rastering techniques. And I'm pretty sure, that Prof. Slusallek knows what he is talking about.

  • "it's physically correct" I very much doubt that!

  • I've been using a plugin that can do the equivalent of this for over a year. It's called Unity.

  • can't wait.
