I much prefer this version it has more umph to it. Hard to believe that this videoo was banned by BBC at the time. My how times change when you see so called stars show little to the imagination whoring their bodies to sell records.

The saxophone ha ha ha :) It's not too bad, this version, but I prefer the original

Seems to me there was yet another version that was played on U.S. radio at that time... where the guitar lead hits a higher note... can't find that on YouTube right now...

when was this recorded? souns like The Man Who Sold The World era?

Absolutely superb version of a classic. Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder, Woody Woodmansey, and of course David Bowie were an incredible band, such a shame they broke up at the end of the Aladdin Sane Tour in 1973.

Best version! Bowie and the Spiders had song mastered to perfection by time of this Aladdin Sane out take.

Best version of this great Bowie song....rawer and well...... just great:)

David Bowie turns me on =)

This is the BEST studio version of this song. The guitar solos by MICK RONSON are exactly what he was playing live at that time (72 & 73)...
I think the Sax is an overdub done at a later date (after the Spiders were disbanded). David Bowie without Mick Ronson is like John without Paul, or Mick without Keith
Too bad he BROKE UP THE BAND (Ziggy Stardust). I wonder if Bowie ever regrets doing this???

Nice to see the Rainbow 72 footage , I asked Lindsay about this , the after show party was rather exciting , one of these dancers in lindsays group is in fact blind .. love aladdinvain...out!
Always thought this version was the best. The original sounds under produced.
