@Tlevids actually the spaniards killed their warrior, beat them down, and ripped them from their lands. The catholic church and it's missionaries were really the only voice of reason and protection the indians had. Which is why many chose to convert. Also the mesoamerican belief system wasn't generally followed by every tribe or people throughout the americas. In my father's village there is a 500 year old church, which like many housed, fed, nursed, and protected fleeing natives.

Aztec sacrifices were different to, say, crusades - the people they sacrificed were not jus enemies, some were volunteers who thought it was a great honour
