The scenes from the BBC radio series of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy books, from a time when everything was new, exciting and relatively tax free.

Agrajag is voiced by Douglas Adams himself and, for me, is one of the best characters in the books.

Arthur Dent is voiced by Simon Jones.

The Narrator/ The Book is William Franklyn

All characters belong to Douglas Adams, all voices to their actors and this recording is owned by the BBC, who I hope will let it remain here so people can enjoy the genius of Douglas Adams and their own radio team.

Picture is by Sayurikemiko and is awesome :)

  • I also think that Simon Jones as Arthur Dent is unbeatable. I really didn't find Freeman's performance anywhere near as powerful in the film XD. I just love his indignation and perturbed attitude!

  • @sayurikemiko Simon Jones is totally spot on, gotta agree there. I thought Mos Def as Ford Prefect was pretty dodgy casting, he didn't really convey the mixture of laziness and eccentricity of Ford's character in my opinion.

  • I have to say the movie's main cast was on-the-whole probably the worst group representing the characters. I can't believe you guys discussed Freeman and Def without getting into the very painful representation of Trillian by Deschanel... she's not a horrible actress in general, but her "performance" was absolutely terrible...

Outside the main characters, the cast was spot on. Shame that isn't the part that counts...

  • My jaw literally dropped when I read about the revisiting of the bowl of petunias. BEST REVISITING EVER.

  • I really like the movie, but nothing beats the radioseries. Geoffrey McGivern as Ford Prefect makes me laugh almost every single time he says something. And Simon Jones is really great as the constantly panicking Arthur! :D

  • @sayurikemiko Sorry! I couldn't remember whose it was :( It was such a good picture I had to use it :)

  • Nobody knows the role better than the author.
