I saw the Atlantic City performance on DVD from 1983. Richard sang "My Girl". I was like WTF??? He ruined it BADLY. And I always thought Damon tried too hard to sound like Eddie personally. And Ron Tyson has an ugly sounding falsetto like he shouldn't be singing that octave, but once again, that's me. Though each temp, past and present, has been a capable singer, not each filled a post correctly. I've questioned Otis's recruitment ability (2/2)
Honestly I don't like this song this fast either. Even when they still had Paul and Eddie, it was performed at a similar speed to this. Anyway, I always preferred Paul to Richard. Every time Richard sang a lead Paul originally had, he ruined it with his over-mellow style of singing. He DID, although, sound good singing in any song where HE was the original vocalist like Firefly and Heavenly. Good stuff there. (1/2)
Hey, nothing for nothing, but I'm entitled to my opinion. Yes, "Heavenly" is an amazing song. It has always been one of the Tempts' best from 1973. To me, Richard Street doesn't do anyhting special with that song, Damon brings that song to life with just that one verse. He (Street) has always struck me as someone trying to sound or be cool, rather than someone who really is a true lead singer. I don't know. Maybe I am bias. I've always felt that he was a terrible replacement for Paul Williams.
@WEIRDERABE have you not listened to "firefly" or "heavenly"? One of my favorite leads by Ricky are "If I Don't Love You This Way" and "Hey Girl (I Like Your Style). Listen to the listed, I'm sure you'll change your opinion.

Does anyone know when or even if this concert will ever come out on dvd?
It would be an absolute disgrace if it never does.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, Richard Street is not a lead singer. Strictly background at best. And that's not saying too much either.
