Right, so goal setting is an interesting one again. And when I first started coaching, I got quite frustrated that business owners were struggling to set goals. And what I learnt to understand is that actually setting goals is hard, it's a hard thing to do. It's a hard thing to do well. And the other thing is that goal setting as a topic is quite a dull thing to talk about, goals and setting objects.

So, I created hugs. I call them hugs, so huge unbelievable goals. Everybody loves a hug, so every year all my clients get hugs and bear in mind that they are going to stay with you for the year they need to be fun things. So, we set hugs and we work towards achieving them. So, now I've got some tips that will help with that because as I say, I understand that it is a hard thing to do.

The first thing that I would say that without a doubt makes a big difference is to write it down. If you don't write it down it really isn't a goal and you are profoundly more likely to achieve a goal if you have it written down. Not only written down I'd say have it up somewhere. Have it out on own show. So, write your goals down.

Be specific, you know I am going to improve my revenues this year, so it's not a hug. So, by how much and by when and as a coach they are the sort of things that I am going to be absolutely nailing on. I am going to want to know specifics of whatever the goals are that you want to set.

So, the third tip is to believe in your goals. So, make them believable and that absolutely you do believe you can achieve it. So, believe in your goals is my third tip. Something that sports people do which is my fourth tip is to keep a track on a regular basis. I've never really understood where sports people will track on a daily basis whether or not they are working towards achieving the times or goals that they've set for their sports activities. But in business bizarrely, we tend to for example, we might do a business plan and put it in a drawer and then not look at it. And one of the things and one of the benefits that comes from working with a coach is that he absolutely will have that on the table every week, every two weeks to see how you are doing.

And the last one is a very straight forward, which is never ever give up. So, you know, I say make like a postal stamp stick with it till it's delivered. So, absolutely if you said that at the start of setting that goal that you thought it was an achievable thing stick with it. So, never ever give up. So, there are my five top tips for goal setting.
