The original version of "Ceremony" recorded in March 1981. (The better version, in my opinion. Hahaha.) There are subtle differences between the two versions of the songs, but I believe the differences in this version make it better than the re-recorded version. :)

this is THE version. it's nothing crazy. it's just th eoriginal 12". period!!!! you try to make it sound like it is sthg we ve never heard. it's THE 12" of "ceremony", the one i bought in 1981. there is no other original. except the one by Joy Division in rehearsal available on Heart & Soul. and the live on Still is poorly recorded.

I wanted to specifically hear this one rather than the re-recording, so I searched for "original" and this came up. as it turns out, you're a fantastic dickhead. might want to rethink your attitude.

@HELLZORBLADE Woah woah, i do agree the New Order version is a lot better recorded but this is trully a Joy Division classic. But overall it's Ceremony, quite possibly the greatest song played through speakers but i commend you on your opinions =]

@gillesnewwave their are two versions of the song. The one recorded before Gillian joined the band (this video) and a slightly different one which is more common which was recorded with Gillian on guitar, which is the one on the compilation album substance. Facepalm
