  • FROM gertbacktracks: Tears in my eyes . . . so much beauty . . . so much love . . . it's heartbreaking. THIS music will live on.

  • FROM matthewf335: I remember Judy from way back in 1964. You're right, there was a lot of hope and freedom back then; interesting thing is that I haven't lost it. Fact is, I've got more of it now than I had back "in the day." I don't miss being 18; was too damned painful. I thank my Father for where I am now. I wish it could have been an easier ride, but it's been worth it . . . and people like Judy and CSN and the Muppers (!) have all made it a gas! Sorry for rambling on like this . . .

  • FROM Fredtripod: Sitting in my house on the top of a mountain, listening to Judy Collins, with a glass of whiskey, lights off, feeding on old memories . . . I hate getting old . . . Thank you Judy for taking me back to my youth and all the hope and freedom that I once had. X

FROM vegantamales: Such a beautiful song, one of her absolute best. Thank you Judy.

  • FROM sweinreich: Beautiful rendition of this Randy Newman classic. I feel that Judy has captured the emotion of the song as well as Bette Midler did in the film Beaches. I'm proud to say that Judy Collins and I graduated from the same high school in Denver, Colorado.

FROM JordanDurell: I heard this song a long, long time ago. Maybe during the summer of love? It stuck in the back of my mind, what a beautiful song. I hadn't heard it again until I heard it here on YouTube. I LOVE YouTube.

  • FROM muizeekphanahtic: The smooth/silky vocals of Judy Collins were definitely suited for a special ballad like this and was poignantly enhanced by the hushed/aching vocals by Graham Nash. Two 60s musical icons who defined their times as much as the politicans/athletes did. The piano playing is syrupy sweet & the harmonies are exquisite/captivating. A really unique performance. I only wish it was available on CD.

  • FROM Mindsheartspeak: I must that clicking through the videos with Judy Collins is addicting! It is 12:16 a.m. where I am, but I want to listen more! Watch more! Thanks so much to the one who has posted her performances. You're an angel yourself. :-)

FROM pinkkouw: Oh . . . this is so beautiful . . . I have tears in my eyes -- trying not to drop them on my keyboard. The lyrics and the voices of Judy and Graham -- for me this is all that music ought to be.

  • A simple lyric and melody, yet a profound meaning, and beautifully performed. Thanks for sharing this, betahifi.

  • Undoubtedly one of the best performances ever given of one of the best songs ever written. So, so beautiful .

  • "In such ugly times, the only true protest is beauty" .. Phil Ochs.

  • Shucks --- that is a perfect unison between them. You can hardly tell their voices apart.
