Garmin vs Magellan.. Who do you think wins?

the one on the left is a Megallen 1700 with a 7in screen and the right is a more than 2 yo Garman Sport Pilot C340.
all i can say is the big one is jus "Big"..

You cant compare a new POS Magellan to a super old Garmin, you sound old so you should know better.  Garmin smokes Magellan any day !!!

Please don't waste your time watching this video. He's comparing a brand new (2009) Magellan model with a Garmin from early 2005. I hope "ding" wises up and removes this nonsensical video.

If you want to see a comparable Garmin, look at the nuvi 1300 series. Similar price point and vintage

$125 GPS to a new $350 one to show that the OLD one had BETTER maps,Tech should get better with age Now go rewatch the vid and see if you want to retract?

a gps is a tool to help you get where you are going , not to drive you where you are going while you kick back at sleep.

I prefer magellan as I'm a courier and magellan lets you put in multiple addresses and will optimize the route for you so you can do in the best order.

Magellan is the best. BUT IT'S NOT THE POINT! You're wrong, Sir! You can see the destination point instantly on both units without zooming out, moving the map coast-to-coast and then zooming in.... if not the manual book, READ THE SCREEN...it's all there....Also: 2D and 3D modes show details differently - it's all ajustable... Use the newer wide screen Magellan (just learn all them features!), and keep the old one for emergencies (or as a 2007 Christmas momento - your wife will be pleased).

magellan is the better gps without a doubt. From the way you can input addresses to the voice. Its all better

Honestly, they both have shit UI. Get a Tomtom with a cleaner interface. There is just so much clutter on the screen for both GPS that I would either get into an accident or get lost.

dave I just picked up the Cobra 7750 pro. (You can search for it on youtube if you want to see it. I like it...) It has its flaws too, like most... You just have to use common horse sense, cause I truely believe there is no perfect GPS, a guide only. But I do like it...

Magellan wins without a single doubt

Kind of a bias comparison. The map on the Magellan 1700 looks cleaner and more accurate freeway patterns. It has an AV jack for using backup cameras and or playing media players on its 4 x 7.5 screen . Contains AAA travel guide, 6000 POI`s , auto day / night modes and a lot more. I'm not being bias just evening out the comparison. I use a Lowrance 1000 Aviation GPS. Works great in the plane.
