NASA's Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) satellite rocketed into Earth orbit on Nov. 18, 1989, and quickly revolutionized our understanding of the early cosmos. This video was reissued by NASA for COBE's 20th Anniversary.

  • Wasn't the COBE obsolete after the WMAP?

I love to see videos like this one.

    Thanks for uploaded. It's great!

  • 1989. Its in the description.

  • well, give or take 500 million years...

  • 15 billion years ago? How old is this video?

  • where is COBE now? a video with feedback would be more appropriate??!

  • COBE is out of date...WMAP is far better.

  • NIce

  • Awesome video, but it's stuff I already knew about :P.

Is there anyway to have a video uploaded about the instruments that measured the solar minimum about 10 years ago and the soon to be solar climax (a device I read that's approximately 2.2 AU above the sun, the instrument farthest from the plane of our solar system.)? Perhaps with some discussion about polar shifts, what effects a polar shift in the sun has on earth and what affects a polar shift in the earth would have on us? Thank you!
