When the Pentagon on Monday unveils its proposed 2009 budget of $515.4 billion, annual military spending, when adjusted for inflation, will have reached its highest level since World War II.

DOMESTIC APPROPRIATIONS: These would be essentially frozen at current levels, with most services being cut after inflation and population growth are factored in.

_HOMELAND SECURITY: Overall, the budget for homeland security programs will increase by almost 11 percent, with a 19 percent increase for border security and immigration enforcement efforts, including new money to secure the border with Mexico.

  • Please note that the BUSH budget did NOT include war spending which Paul O'Neill in his book, "the Price of Loyalty" testified that as of 2006 was ONE TRILLION dollar and that BOTH BUSH WARS would cost America ELEVEN TRILLION dollars. Now tell me again which party is known for fiscal responsibility? The last presidents to submit a balanced budget were....BILL CLINTON and JIMMY CARTER. The GOP always BORROWS from our enemies to finance their wars.

  • it dont make any difference how much america spends on their armies ,they will still all be little girls!

  • what do you expect ?hes a nazi just like all the other presidents are,see how much pbama will spend on crack for him and his crackhead family (no respect fo usa)

  • America, glad to see such selfless generosity. At this rate, every dollar you pay in taxes will be going to the military.

At least you're not dirty socialists like the rest of us in the G7.

  • So he wants to give all the money to the military and take away what little money we're spending on our own country? WHAT THE HELL!?

  • sorry- I meant BILLIONS! so far 17.2 billion in earmarks! That's $17,200,000,000.00

  • Let's not forget the millions of dollars in earmark spending that is included in this bill by our wonderful Congress and Senators. Maybe if we're lucky there will be another bike trail or Tea Pot Museum added in there! Woopy!
