Alfredo Rubalcaba, leading figure in the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2011 general elections in Spain, met S&D Euro-MP's in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on October 25. During the meeting he affirmed that a social-democrat policy is the only way to get out the crisis, as the latter highlighted the mistakes of conservative policies. The Prime Ministerial candidate sees the crisis as a defeat of right-wing values: "It's not a crisis in our values, it's a crisis in the values of the right, it's the values of the right that has led the economy into this situation we currently face today. We never wanted a fully deregulated economy, neither did we advocate a fully regulated economy" he said. Martin Schulz, president welcomed the Spanish leader : "It's very important particularly in these difficult times; it's a strong signal. I'm very glad to see you in our midst."
