  • @jazzweston1 You certainly have a point in that they often hold long notes and both phrase in a very relaxed way. Vincent is "post-coltrane" so it's natural for him to play more outside than Dexter.

  • Herring is a natural genius. I don't get why people haven't seen it yet.

  • After watching this video, I started comparing Vincent Herring with Dexter Gordon, even though they play different saxes. They both have a commanding tone, swing like crazy, and play things that sound great. However, Vincent plays more outside than Dex did.
