A good trail ride at Tahuya Forest on a brand new 2011 KTM 150 XC.

  • How much do you weight? I ride Tahuya all the time on my 250f ktm and have been debating whether I want to try one of these or a 200xc but I weight about 230. I am just wondering how it would handle the weight in the tighter single track. Its tempting just because the 150s weight so little and that would be nice.

  • @SPRKSHW I weigh the same as you. Sort of heavy for a 150, but it does okay. The 200 has more torque and would be easier to ride. I do love the 150 feather lightness though.....makes moving it around feel like a mountain bicycle.

  • @modcit I dont know how open you are to letting someone test ride it but I would love to try one of these out at Tahuya if you are ever out there when I am. I only got to try one at the KTM demo down at Washougal in the grass track and it was a blast to ride. I can understand if you arent interested though. Just thought I would ask. I don't have any videos on here but I can assure you I have a really nice 250f you could try out at the same time.

  • @SPRKSHW I might be okay with that, but the bike is now in Southern Oregon. Not sure if or when I will cart it back up to WA. Are you a TTR member?

  • you shouldn't bog it so much, all that does is build up oil in ur pipe

  • @eyecicles9 Thanks for the tip! It is challenging to ride this little baby on the tight single track. Keep in mind, the camera flattens and smooths everything. I just might put a bigger sprocket on the back to help keep the revs up in 2nd and 3rd.

  • @mrHansen122 Being a small high-revving engine, you probably want to keep an eye on the top-end. I never owned a small two-stroke before (came off a KTM 300) but I hear they do require a but more upkeep. It's great on slow trails and high speed tracks. There are a lot of track vids of this bike on youtube. The only place I have any trouble is very steep and loose hills --- you HAVE to keep momentum, as there is not a lot of low-end power.

  • hey mate at the moment i own a 2010 kx250f and it cost a fortune to keep running like: oil filter every 8 hrs oil every 4 pistons every 25hrs and clutches very often aswell. all im trynna get 2 is that im thinking about buying a reasonably new ktm150sx wether it be 2009 2010 2011 etc, all i want 2 know is that is it low maintanance wats sort of the things u have to keep an i eye on and is it good for like this sort of slow moving trails aswell as its known ability on a track? cheers..

  • sounds amazing

  • @baraklee263 I don't race, but I have done a couple of enduros. I ride in an age class, so the cc doesn't matter. Some Motocross clubs are allowing the 150 to race against the 250F bikes. I would say you would have no problem with 250F bikes on this machine. It is very light and fast, with about 36HP on a dyno. I owned a KTM 300 EXC for years, so yes I have ridden bigger bikes. This will NOT lug around like a four stroke. You have to keep it on the pipe.
