Apollo 10, launched on May 26, 1969 at 12:52:23pm EDT was the full dress rehearsal for Apollo 11. During this mission, crew members Thomas P. Stafford, Eugene Cernan, and John Young tested the Lunar Module and Command Service Module in lunar orbit. The mission lasted 8 days and took the crew to within 50,000 ft of the lunar surface.

The crew of Apollo 10 holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest speed ever attained by man. On their return trip they reached a speed of 24,741 mph. That speed will not be broken until man returns from a trip to Mars.
