I saw Maynor in 1949 at the Robinhood Dell in Philadelphia. She sang Hear Ye, Israel, and this 16-year-old music student was overwhelmed by her. It wasn't just the beauty of her voice but the nobility and purity she projected. She made a lifelong impression on me.

Un timbre sympathique,même si la voix s'égare parfois,la faute à un vibrato un peu aléatoire;il en ressort néanmoins une fraîcheur et une spontanéité...

Ah This is the version of this aria that most melts my heart!. I love the Grace Moore,Steber, Tebaldi, Price and Battle versions of this aria but Maynor just nails this young girls passsion and abbandon in love . It is sung so well and so sincerely.This is a gorgeous recording and a stellar artist

Her voice and version are the closest to the original intent of this aria. She doesn't come on with the big guns so to speak but a simple and tender emotion, straight from the heart, and we feel it too. Many thanks for posting this of Dorothy Maynor. I can't recall hearing her before. So glad to know of this recording.

J'ai connu Mme Maynor sur Cd en 2001 depuis ce temps elle est ma préféré ! Merci de me la faire découvrir en francais ! Elle me fait pensé a un oiseau qui chante ! oufff Merci Beaucoup Dieu vous bénisse !
