Why We Need a New System of Global Cooperation
The current state of the world has highlighted the deepening deficit in global cooperation despite the urgent issues on the global agenda.
With the mismatch between 20th century institutions and 21st century challenges, how can the international system be rebooted to increase collaboration and innovative solutions?
This session focuses on a major new initiative of the World Economic Forum, sponsored by the Governments of Qatar, Singapore and Switzerland, to develop effective global solutions for the challenges of the 21st century.
Micheline Calmy-Rey, Federal Councillor of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation

H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar
Chaired by

I keep hearing the word "protectionism" in the news. When I hear that I think "loss of sovereignty". I do not expect the rest of the world to understand the principles that America was founded upon. Those principles have been thrown by the wayside in exchange for global interest. If the US federal government or anyone in the world thinks this is working, check out the US trade deficit rank....we may be the largest economy in the world but we also import more than we export. This cannot continue
