The Rickenbacker 4003 bass is famous for its resonant sustain, a punchy top end snap, and solid, smooth bottom end. It's also equally famous for its distinctive, elegantly curved body shape, accentuated by a delicate strip of binding, deluxe triangular fret inlays, stereo output, and neck-thru-body construction.

The 4003 deploys double truss rods, and high-output single-coil pickups with wide response range and pristine clarity. This fretless version of the classic Rickenbacker bass includes a standard case. The Vintage Tone Selector activates a capacitor in the treble pickup circuit to emphasise the high end. Press it in, and you get the familiar 4003 sound, pull it out and it adds bite and crispness.

@skankster823 But a P-Bass has a great slap tone. They're great for Funk, look at The Brothers Johnson from way back when? Wooooo! P Bass slap tone is more wood influenced then a J Bass, even though J Bass is the go to slap bass :P

@TheRedSandwitch Entwistle never had one style. In an interview he mentioned that its good to explore different styles of playing. That's what was so great about his playing... and he was just good.

He picks it just like Chris Squire and it sounds beautiful finger picked. Slap.... It isn't a slap bass really. Same as P Basses

You never use both outputs to get stereo like this guy seems to be saying, the stereo out requires a stereo splitter or Y cable
