Seems similar to Polish way of getting license:

1. You sign up for a driving course (or classes if you will).

2. You take theoretical test.

3. You drive with you instructor.

4. You take national driving test.

5. You buy your car.

6. You learn how to drive. ;-)

@cathycwong if you majored in japanese you could probably end up teaching english in japan. or be a translator, maybe even work for the government doing something that requires another language.
