Columbus Park is in one of the oldest residential areas of Manhattan. This park was named after Christopher Columbus. It was once part of "The Bend, and "Five Points" which was identified in the movie, "The Gangs of New York". It was formerly one of the most despicable places on earth according to Charles Dickens visit to the area.

It is now a public park. At one end there are many groups of Asians assembled playing cards. They are often out here playing even in the winter. You also see men gathering around a game of Chinese Chess. Those who play and those who watch will stand around for hours watching the ongoing game. At the other end are basketball courts and soccer fields.

No matter who you are, nor how you are dressed, you're always welcomed here. It is one of the most fascinating parks I've been to in New York.
