The Parliamentary group of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left group has decided to send MEP Willy Meyer to Honduras to evaluate the situation after the recent coup d'état.
Meyer will arrive this Thursday 2nd of July, coinciding with the return of President Zelaya, and he will meet with representatives of social and political organizations to evaluate the situation after the coup d'état.
Willy Meyer is the European Parliament's rapporteur for the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central America, which is currently being negotiated. During his visit he will gather information directly so as to inform the European Parliament about the situation in Honduras regarding the Association Agreement.
As Vice-President of the Latin America-Caribbean European Union Parliamentary Assembly (EUROLAT), he will inform his parliamentary colleagues about his visit to this Central American country on his return.
