The shinny black rock looks like obsidian, but it wouldn't be crumbly. Common stuff in central Oregon. Especially around Newberry Carter

could simply be limestone? it looks like limestone to me.

It doesn't react with hydrochloric acid. I did work for a soil company who analyzed farmers soil and one of the lab ladies dropped a couple drops of hydrochloric acid on the substance and it didn't react. It didn't do shit to it! So it's not limestone.

This stuff is more crumbly and loose, nothing like Talc. Talc actually is close to soap stone. I have created a few pot pipes out of soap stone and it created a weightless white powder, similar to baby powder. I believe it's diatomaceous earth, I have two women working on samples but no word yet.
