The fires raged in Bastrop County erasing over 50,000 acres, 1,600 homes, displacing over 5,000 residents. Shown here is 200 Alum Creek Rd, Smithville, TX, 78957-9553 the morning after the night it went up in smoke. This was the mobile home and travel trailer residences of Caroyl & Emmett Maliniemi, guests Dasa & Dax, and John Wheeler all of whom escaped with some personal possessions and running vehicles.
