  • respect you are the first WC sifu (i have seen so far ) who does a really good job.

    greets from germany WT

  • @DrunkenBuddhaFist Hm, actually I'll look into the book, cheers mate. :)

  • @GabbysMyKittyRawr There are actually at least 20 styles of Wing Chun, one of which is indeed called Foshan Wing Chun. The best book you can buy on this subject is probably "Complete Wing Chun" by Robert Chu, R.Richie et al. It isn't a how to book, but more of a history/de-bunker of Wing Chun myths and stories. A good read if you are interested in that kind of thing.

  • @PureAvengers Indeed it is, its where Ip Picked up his Lineage of WC.

Though Foshan WC differs slightly from Ip Man's lineage.

  • @GabbysMyKittyRawr Foshan is a town

  • @DrunkenBuddhaFist I did know that there were a couple of styles of Wing Chun (Pa Nam, Foshan, Ip Man Wing Chun, etc). Although I wasn't sure bout the official romanisation, so thanks very much for the information. ^^

  • @GabbysThere are actually several styles of WC, just as there are various styles of Karate etc. People like Leung Ting sometimes change the spelling to differentiate between what they teach and what others teach. For example, if you compare William Cheung's WC to LT's, you can see there are actually many differences.

However, other times the name is spelt differently simply because at the time WC was popularised in the West, there was no official romanisation of Cantonese. Hope this helps.
