This is really a test of my new HD video cam. I created an airline style "LNAV" departure path using GoogleEarth and then entered the lat and long of each waypoint into my Garmin 530w as user waypoints. The first waypoint is at the end of the runway. This departure is from Cut Bank, MT (KCTB) in VFR conditions. My equipment includes a Garmin G500, GNS-530w, and STEC-55x autopilot. enjoy.

  • Jason, how's your next video coming? I'll keep checking back.

  • @SkyProwler1

I know...I know...I have been busy with work and haven't been flying much. The summer flying season is upon us, so hopefully a video or two in the coming months!

  • can you not match the displays on the 530 to the 500, seems like it wouldn't be so confusing. both of the heads up.. better equipment than i have in my jet.

  • @1clouddancer

Not really. The map on the PFD displays NAV and cultural data (roads, towns, etc), whereas the map on the 530 is mostly NAV data (airways, approaches, etc). There is no way to swap the PFD between the 530 and 500. It's not as sofisticated as the G1000, however for me its wonderful. I flew with steam gauges for twenty years so I am not complaining.

  • Fantastic video. I fly a Citation Mustang with the Gamin 1000 the new G500 looks like a very similar piece of kit. I mainly have air borne videos at the moment but i will respond to this by filming a B-RNAV departure from a large European airpiort and you'll be amazed how similar it is! Great video again, thanks for posting
