Pit Bulls Kill Another Dog in the Capital City
"He got large puncture wounds on his head, all over his legs," Scott Sullivan of South Jackson says of the fatal pit bull attack on his dog, Camo. "You got three pit bulls on you, you're gonna have a lot of holes in you. The holes in his head looked pretty deep."
Sullivan shot video of Camo, a lab mix, dying on his kitchen floor. On Sunday around 3 a.m., Camo was attacked in his own back yard by three pit bulls, two males and a female in heat, Sullivan says. The pits had come from elsewhere in the neighborhood and jumped his fence. "They say the kid left the gate open, the dogs got out," he says.
Camo died late Monday, the same day a German Shepard named Caesar was mauled and killed by two pit bulls in North Jackson. Sullivan lives a mile and a half away from where three-year-old Tony Evans was killed in late July after wandering over to a pit bull in another yard.
Sullivan says the owner of the pits that mauled his dog knocked on the door and alerted him to the attack while it was in progress. When he ran to the back yard, Sullivan says, the pit bulls were still attacking Camo. He grabbed a BB gun that was on the back porch, fired a shot into the air, and the dogs ran off.
Sullivan didn't get the name of the pit bull owner, and he says now police won't give it to him. "All I want to do is take the guy the bill. If he doesn't pay then I'll get a lawyer," he says.
JPD Lieutenant Jeffery Scott says Sullivan deserves civil remedies in this case, and he can't understand why any information would be withheld.
