Fireworks booby trap? Cop sting ends with a bang in Peru

Seven police officers have been injured in an explosion as they tried to confiscate illegal fireworks from vendors in a street market in the Peruvian city of Chiclayo, local media reported. Images show angry vendors pushing the officers away from their stands before a box of fireworks explodes, causing the camera to drop for a few seconds. Local news outlets reported that the explosion was intentionally caused by the vendors who were angered by an earlier confiscation of pyrotechnics by police. The officers were taken to a local hospital with injuries to the arms, legs and face. Police claim, before the incident they had confiscated nearly a ton of illegal firework material.
