Check out my neat little clock - Numimini. Not a nixie clock this time, but using tubes from the same era - it's a numitron clock!

Numimini is a USB-powered gadget based on four Russian IV-9 or IV-16 numitrons. It links to your Windows PC by USB, and a custom written application allows all the cool features to be controlled. This video shows an IV-9 Numimini running through some of its many different display animations.

Available as a complete kit or ready-built on eBay from user drjon3232.

  • can't play video. :'(

  • That is odd - is working perfectly for me. Can only suggest that YouTube was having a strange moment or perhaps some problem with your machine. Try again?

  • Ok it works now. I think I had a flash problem or something like that.. Looks cute I think. =D

  • @cumesoftware The datasheet gives a working voltage of 3.15V, so easy enough to manage from 5V. The Numimini design actually regulates the current through the filaments directly, so I don't need to worry too much about the overall operating voltage of the circuit. Enjoy...

  • Looks pretty sweet.

Have you ever considered using an IV-18? you could probably make something amazing. plus I would buy one.
