Why does he scan the analog meter at 1:52s? There is no bar code on the old meters.

In the segment of the video you are referring to, the meter installer is taking a picture of the consumption information on the mechanical meter, for BC Hydro’s records, prior to the meter exchange. This is an important part of the exchange process that helps to ensure customer consumption data is accurate.

@BCHydroPowerSmart That's incorrect. If the installer was just recording the old dial values for power consumption, the handheld would be upright to make use of the camera on the back of it. and he would just type the number in anyways.

This is a pile of crap, when they come to our home best obey the Beware of Dog, Keep Out Private Property Sign, he might eat you alive & save me the pieces for a political stew. No way hoze, you are not going to endanger my health. This is a documented health hazard everywhere but here, no independent reviews, totally bypassed the BC Utilities commission. @movitmovit you can also be assured that there will be no discount for off-peak time; only an increase in rate for on-peak time. in the end, you will pay more overall even if you do run your dryer in the middle of the night. and let's look at that tangent as well: besides your dryer, dishwasher, or maybe bread maker, what else would you change to off-peak time? we use power when we need it. that's the nature of power usage. we don't need power in the middle of the night.

So far Hydro has ignored two of my emails requesting tech datasheets for both the smart meters and smart meter collectors. They refuse to provide information necessary to evaluate safety as their own engineering studies are flawed. Data packets do not show RF spikes! Collectors are 36dbm (4 watts!) RF is a carcinogen. They do NOT have the right to install a carcinogen emitting surveillance device on your home! I need to build a magnetron gun asap.
