I wish he had told them if you want a slim tenor find someone else.Too hell with your diets! Maybe he would have made less money but he could have done lots of concert work and also opera  but then we would not have heard him and gotten into opera like I did!

50 years ago I learned my love of good music listening to Mario Lanza. A few have come near to replacing him in my music collection but none have quite made it for the feeling he always managed to bring to anything that he sung . It is a pity that he had to die so young.

@faux,c'est une mauvaise légende,au contraire,lors de ses concerts comme au Royal hall palace àLondres en 1957 où il a chanté sans micro devant 8000 personnes,..... la grande Licia ALBANESE;qui a aujourd'hui plus de 100 ans,qui a enregistré avec lui un extrait d'OTHELLO pour le film Sérénade en 1956 et qui a chanté avec GIGLI,LANZA,TUCKER,PAVAROTTi à ses débuts,DI STEFANO etc..disait ,que LANZA avait la puissance de CARUSO et la douceur de GIGLI. Et les musiciens de l'opéra de Rome en 1959,..
