One week later, this is 07-04-09's practice. I basically practiced MITF elements, and only limited myself to single jumps. I actually practiced 2 days earlier and hurt my leg on a double jump, and it still hurts, so we'll see when I get back to more serious practice again. Otherwise, I feel a bit stronger, but am realizing that although the muscle memory is there, I NEED to pace myself and take things slowly!

Enjoy the sound of the ice...no music this time. I filmed a lot more, but since I had no one to film me, some of my stuff got cut off from the camera.

  • Oh my goodness, your MITF is amazinggg! There is so much control! How long have you been skating? Everything looked so solid.

How do you jump up in flip? I pick quite "open", but somehow there's no height!

  • thanks for the compliments! I skated for 10 years up until 2002. At the time I was at the Novice/Junior level with all doubles and doing some triples.

I wanted to come back, so now I'm finally back on the ice. This video is my 3rd day back after about 6.5 years off.

The key to the flip and lutz jumps is to really spring off your knee. Use your takeoff leg to really push you up in the air. Nicely bended knees will make the jump easier and higher. Hope that helps!
