There are no photos of Al Jackson or any background information on him. Jackson was a jump blues singer much in the same vein as Wynonie Harris. He began his career recording four songs for Capitol Records in 1949, but only one song "Long About Three" was issued. In 1951 Jackson recorded four sides for the Coral label with two records being issued by that label. The following year he recorded four more songs for the tiny Roost label with two more records released. He would not record again. The father of Booker T. & The MG's drummer Al Jackson, Jr. led a jazz/swing band in Memphis, TN. in the 1940's and 50's. However, I could not find any evidence that this was the younger Al's father on this recording.
