Founded in 1742 and in service until 1883, this furnace was saved after it was no longer needed unlike almost all other furnaces of this type. Today you can take a tour of the most complete cold blast charcoal furnace in the Western Hemisphere - the Cornwall Iron Furnace, located in Cornwall, Pa.
