Saint Mary's College of California Provost Dobkin's Statement of Support for Our Struggle

Monday, April 19, 2010 De La Salle Statue - Provost Bethami Dobkin of Saint Mary's College of California makes a public statement of support for the student movement Our Struggle is Tied with Yours and their Call 2 Action. The Call 2 Action entails creating a tent city community on the Chapel Lawn that as a community fasts from solid foods from sun-up to sun-down (much like but not exactly like the Muslim religious holiday of Ramadan). This is to achieve the goals of getting the community members to stop and think critically about Our Struggle's 10 demands and where every person at Saint Mary's personally stands in regards to those demands and other issues. Our Struggle wants everyone to stand for something and be heard in their own personal voice and valued for that, regardless of whether they agree with the 10 demands or not. The demonstration is a demonstration of the serious commitment Our Struggle has to changing things for the better at SMC, a commitment the Administration shares.
