Duran Duran bassist speaking at UCLA's 40th Anniversary of the Internet celebration, hosted by Prof. Leonard Kleinrock, October 29, 2009.
Taylor was a veritable pioneer who began selling music via the web before practically anyone else.
Forty years ago, the first Internet message was sent from the UCLA School of Engineering to the Stanford Research Institute.

Nice one JT. Totally agree with the no-Twitter policy since I feel that getting too much information (no Duran pun intended) on your teenage "hero" robs them of a lot of their mystique. Being old enough to appreciate the Roxy, Pistols and Clash references I found this very interesting. His story about getting on his bike to get the Roxy Music record was similar to various of my own quests to get DD rare singles or latest releases! I also agree that downloads has harmed album art.

@drylaundry No, he really was at half time when he said that. We gave each speaker an allotted amount of time and he stuck to it. And though I can't speak for him personally, I never got the sense that he wasn't enjoying himself. He was very gracious and friendly to all of us on staff and he seemed to be taking his small role in this event seriously. There was no phoning it in, so to speak.
