A scheduled NJT Atlantic City train heads south after stopping at Cherry Hill station and about 30 minutes later a northbound Amtrak charter train heads toward Virginia, if I remember right. Amtrak had terminated Atlantic City service a few years before, but this was a special. They're going under the 100+ year-old Maple Ave bridge, which has since been replaced.

  • I remember this old bridge, I used to be afraid to go over it cause it always shook.

  • The old bridge, which was somewhere around 100 years old, was replaced a few years ago.

  • Does NJT still use their GP40TC or GP40H units?

  • FP40PH-2 is what's stenciled on the side of them...

  • why is there Amtrak on the ACL

  • While Amtrak stopped AC service in 1995, there have been occasional charter trips from outlying areas. I think they have been chartered by specific casinos. I do not remember the origination point of this one, but I think they came from Virginia and Massachusetts..

  • @fleecejackets Ahh I remember when they were on the ACL up intil like the end of 2002 thats when it turned out to be with all comet IV's. But it was neat. I remember the last time i rode in that consist was November 2002 I was in 4th grade lol!!! GOOD TIMES

  • Amtrak used to run it's own service right to Atlantic City as well.

  • Cool, NJT and Amtrak both using diesels.

  • Great video! I wish the IIIB cabs were still used on the ACL. And nice catch with the F40PH. Do you know if that unit came into NJT hands? Because then it might still be running on those tracks.

  • NJTA owns them now
