SUBTITLE: Hello!!My name is Joy. My name sign ____. I am hearing. I study spanish and education. 2 years ago I studied ASL at my university. Then I went to another country and learned Colombian sign language. I still have a desire for sign language even though I study spanish and education. I can't lose it, it's impossible! Recently I started a new job at my university at the student center. It is a main desk area where student come for help and information. A lot of students come everyday for help. Sometimes they want a printed schedule, or need to find their classroom, or have questions about school events. When I see students who are speaking spanish, I always get excited and start to speak in spanish. But now, with this new job, I meet a lot more deaf students! It is so fun! Whenever a deaf student comes, I want to become their friend. Already I have 3 new friends. But recently I met more than 8 deaf people just because my new job. Everyday I wait, and hope for a deaf person to come.

  • it is really interesting that i was born in Colombia but i live in Florida that i am only deaf of Colombia that i was thought it. if you want talk me or question about me.. thank ya

  • I have always been a little interested in sign language as well. I already study french and Spanish. I recently have been watching youtube videos made by deaf people or just people speaking about deaf culture. This is weird, but I almost cried when I read your video description (I don't know sign language... yet). You show exactly what the world needs and that is people with open and passionate hearts. I hope that you don't let anyone stop you from achieving what you want in life, stay true :).

  • Heya. That's cool about your job. I think you're definitely on your way, even though I know this video was posteed nearly a year ago. If you're interested in practicing with anyone, you could always message me. I always love signing with people. :)

  • have you thought about NMS classes? your signing is nice, but you tend to mouth each word as you sign it. part of ASL is signs but another even more important part is facial expressions and non manuals. good luck =]
