'The Bob & Ray Show'-- Bob Elliott and Ray Goulding-- some segments as heard in the series on the Mutual Broadcasting System, Monday through Friday, 5:00 to 5:45 PM Eastern Time, during 1957. This material is from my personal collection; it is not from a commercial source and is not intended for commercial use. The visual is the cover of a book containing Bob & Ray scripts, published by Random House in 1975.
Additional Bob & Ray, from another collector, is available free of charge at www.archive.org.
For biographical information, the Wikipedia article about Bob & Ray is a good source.

  • Bob and Ray were some of the best comedians on radio. . . you know, radio:

That's television without all those annoying pictures. The words they used are probably too big (multisyllabled) and their humor is too subtle for today's listener. . . listener . . . you know, that's a TV viewer who turns the picture off.

  • Radio ...the theatre of the mind .....glad I was in broadcasting during the "fun" days

  • Woody, your use of the English language alone sets you apart from most of today's comedy audience.Sadly today's audience prefers to laugh at everyone but themselves...I don't think they would appreciate how these guys made fun of all of us-from our speech to our love of beauty contests to soap operas-I believe Bob & Ray was poking fun at the American audience. Today we would rather hear foul language and destroy celebrities instead of some self-effacing satire.

  • @mickeyboy77 You've got it right, mickeyboy77!! They not only "set the standard," but outstrip ANY of the pretenders who've come after. Their material/routines outclass any so-called "challengers," and their pitch, their timing, their sheer power of insousciant delivery catapults them above any other of their genre. Well done. My main hope, of course, is that many insightful younger people will get to hear them, gain access to their hilarity. woodykafka

  • And Kurt Vonnegut Jr wrote the foreword! right cool
