The G-speak SOE is a gesture-based immersive environment that was first envisioned in the film Minority Report. John Underkoffler served as science advisor on the film and then went on to establish Oblong Industries to develop the platform. This is footage following a lecture he delivered on February 25, 2009 at the University of Southern California where he demonstrated the G-speak SOE for students and faculty at the School of Cinematic Arts. Here, I got to experience the system first-hand by manipulating a series of characters using simple finger and hand gestures. For more details about G-speak SOE, visit http://oblong.com/.

I apologize for the poor lighting, this was unfortunately shot using a cellphone camera.

  • Are there plans to incorporate eye movement/gestures as controls?
