Kim and I took a tour of the S.S. STE CLAIRE today. It is in the beginning stages of restoration and was a thrill to be on again. This boat is full great memories for many Detroiters. For more information go to www.bobloboat.com
You can also see great shots of the Boblo boat in the old Faygo TV commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQqyDj7RX6Y

  • What are they planning on doing with these girls once here all finished? I hope something good in Detroit. It would suck if someone else got all the fun.

  • @eveheartsmark I just read in the Free Press that one will stay in Detroit and the other is going to New York. :-(

  • I do not want to be rude, but it makes no sense to have music playing, when some one is talking. It makes it very hard to understand, what the tour guide is saying.

  • I did not insert the music that is playing. That music was being played on the boat. That is why the music gets loader the closer we get to the dance floor.

  • Hello, I worked on the Columbia in 1981 & 1982. What a great job. I have since been volunteering on the St. Clair every weekend since the Boblo employee reunion, and having a great time. Let's get her sailing again.

  • Great post...I got to show my kids. We didn't take no stinkin' buses to the amusement part...we rode in style and even danced our way there!!!

  • I am so glad they are restoring this boat! I can remember when I was on it in 1983. I was 7. It was so much fun!

  • What would you like to know.. I was the tour guide and I can still remember that tour.. the nice thing is, I was the last guy to sound the ship's whistle before it was removed. We also noted the Coast Guard saw this.. Thanks for your service guys.. The boat was a good time and that is why we volunteered. Unfortunately those days are now gone.. ROCK ON.. W. Argent, Windsor.

  • I'm glad that they are goimg to save this great ship. Nice to see Detroit still knows how to rock. Must be WRIF.

  • I'm SO happy the St. Claire is being restored! I almost cried when I saw the pictures of her that were taken while she and the Columbia were just rotting. So many memories - I remember running up and down those stairs those stairs as a little girl! OMG. I haven't lived in Detroit for many years, but it, and Bob-Lo are in my heart forever.

  • Thanks for posting, brings back a lot of memories from the 70's, some good some bad.
