  • @jenson7720 - I like your interpretation of the meaning of that statement... I also just gave mine.

  • @musikenergy - lol!! It PROBABLY means "sing on your interest" as in... sing the type of music you are very happy performing.. "not your capital".. instead of singing anything for money because if you sing something you don't care to sing and ONLY doing it to get paid, you will not be fullfilled.

That's what I will take from that statement/piece of advice.

  • Best interview I've EVER heard for a young artist to listen to yet.......... And I've heard quite a few. This one really hit home and brought tears to my eyes. This was DEFINITELY a motivational message for me in my personal struggle to become a very VERY polished and successful singer/musician.

  • Diva !!!!

  • beautiful, beautiful lady and a marvelous force of artistry. thank you for this series.

  • Sorry about the repeated post under another account. Didn't realize I was under my son's account when I made the comment. LOL!

  • @jenson7720I think you are EXACTLY right. I was just discussing Leontyne with my friend a couple of days ago, and I stated that Leontyne never sang anything that was outside of what was right for her instrument, unlike many artists who takes on lit they know after a while will damage them vocally. I think that's why even in her 80's, she still sings incredibly well (there's a youtube clip of her singing in her 80's. I sat with my mouth open. LOL). Thanks for the explanation!

  • I am SURE that this astoundingly talented lady, would never have been made"happy"by having a husband and children. This is not the case for everyone as she says ...but if i had her talent there is no way i would let ANYTHING stand in my way.She decided to 100% give her life to her gift and you can see it has given her more joy than words can express...imagine feeling and KNOWING you have done everything in your power to nurture ur gifts!!!that is true happiness.

  • @musikenergy Im not fully sure either but i think maybe...singing in your interest means singing in the right way [including your repertoire and technique] for longevity in the field of opera ...as apossed to singing for capital may mean selling out and not singing in your own interest...ie.not singing correctly or the right repertoire etc...in a general sense...........I THINK!!!!!lol
