I present for the world 'Ladies Of The Chorus', Marilyn Monroe's first film where she was the star.

'Ladies Of The Chorus' is a musical that was released in 1948 by Columbia Pictures Corporation while Marilyn was at the tender age of 22. She had extensive singing lessons by one of Hollywood's best singing teachers and devoted all her time and energy to perfecting her role for the film. After this movie Marilyn would not play a lead role again until 1952 in 'Don't Bother To Knock' as Nell Forbes.

The plot of the film is as such: Former burlesque star May and her daughter Peggy dance in the chorus. When May has a fight with featured dancer Bubbles, Bubbles leaves the show and Peggy takes her place. When Peggy falls in love with wealthy Randy, May fears class differences may lead to misery. Marilyn sings "Ladies Of The Chorus", "Every Baby Needs a Da Da Daddy" and "Anyone Can See I Love You."

It is a charming movie. Nana Bryant and Adele Jergens are my two favourite actresses in the film, after Marilyn. They act superb and sing great. Look out for Nana Bryant reminding us that "You're Never Too Old" to do what you want to do :)

Rate, comment and subscribe to my channel if you like the movie!

This film is the property of Columbia, I make no claims of ownership.

  • Hello. My uncle Joe (Joseph Carosello aka Joe Carole) wrote this screenplay. His only daughter Geraldine is still alive at age 87 and lives in Connecticut. He was the son of Italian immigrants John & Clitilda Carosello. He had three brothers and one sister. Uncle Joe was smitten with actress Adele Jerkins, according to my mother's recollection. He also wrote plays for Broadway including one called "Separate Rooms." Uncle Joe worked in New York and later Hollywood. He married a 1930's child act

  • @BonnieBeeGood Awesome to know, thanks for sharing :)

  • Thank you so much for uploading! If it weren't for you, I would've never seen this. There's no way that I could find it in my country (Argentina) and I haven't seen it on the web either.

Do you have any others not-so-known Marilyn's movies to share? Thank you!!! :)

  • @machinadeferia Glad I could share this gem with you :). Umm, Marilyn didn't really have much of a career before 1948 - 1953 but if I watch her early films I can post her scenes on youtube for you :)

  • Is it just me or does Adele Jergens bear a slight resemblance to Natalie Portman?

    Thanks for the upload btw!

  • Parece que a abertura foi refeita, com o nome de Marilyn em destaque, para o relançamento do filme na década de 50.

  • ladies of chorus q linda pelicula un clasico =)

  • @VintageBeauty1313 Unfortunately not, Fox owns the rights to 'All About Eve' and they don't allow any of their property on YT lol. You could always torrent it though, or buy it :). The Special Edition 2 disc DVD has the best sound and picture quality.
