Anyone remember when cops went from "To Serve & Protect" to "Harass & Intimidate"? Seriously, ever since this "Cops" show Police have got it in their head to treat every civilian they meet like a pedophile crack dealer. If you can't extend common courtesy & respect , at least until the situation dictates otherwise (pay attention Mr. Policeman) then don't be surprised when the public in general treats you with suspicion & disdain.
