Alle Aufnahmen von 1962 an zeigen Brian am Bass. Vermutlich stimmt es, dass Carl ihn das Spielen gelehrt hat, aber zu einem erheblich früheren Zeitpunkt. Dass er sich nicht daran erinnern kann, ist jener nachgewiesenen Hirnschädigung zuzurechnen, die von dem in Jahren konsumierten wilden Mix aus LSD, Pot, Kokain, Heroin und Alkohol verursacht wurde. Außerdem litt er an Paranoia und psychotischen Wahnzuständen. Die Spuren seiner seelischen und körperlichen Pein sind immer noch sichtbar.

OK, Ich Liebe Germany, but it saddens me that this clip chose to put in Manson as part of the story.

To a lesser degree too: Landy.

I used to have such an anger over Mike Love too, but I got over it and realize that even though the BB were mostly Brians, Mike also added alot to the band too.

colindominy: I truly believe you are errant in stating that Mike Love would have been irreplaceable as part of the Beach Boys lineup in the 60's & 70's. He really didn't contribute that much. You are right in saying that he literally pulled the plug on Brian's Smile endeavor. According to Mike, you shouldn't F- - - with the formula. He was not really gung ho about Pet Sounds either. Even my son once said that all Mike Love wanted to sing about was amusement Parks, hot dogs and cotton candy.

Brian kommt hier zu einer sehr merkwürdigen Einschätzung seiner Arbeit. Er war seiner Zeit nicht hinterher, sondern ihr weit voraus. So etwas wie "Pet Sounds", "Good Vibrations" und "Smile" hat damals niemand, NIEMAND, gemacht. Brian war schon immer zu bescheiden. In den 60ern war er neben George Martin und Phil Spector der größte Studio-Crack, ein absolutes Genie als Komponist, Arrangeur und Produzent. Man höre sich nur das Album "Today!" von 1965 an. Das war noch vor "Pet Sounds".

With the benefit of hindsight .. Mike Love, altho he was an irreplaceable part of the BBs line-up, especially in the 1960s & 70s, is basically a real jerk & a vile creature .. a 1st class, up-himself, prize fuck-wit + a trouble-maker. It was Mike Love who sabotaged BW's masterpiece, "Smile", in 1967, & then caused Brian to drop out for so long, with such exterme damage to BW's mental + physical health. May Mike Love rot in hell - there's a special place there reserved for the bastard.

gute Frage. Er spielt doch schon in den früheren Jahren Bass, als sie noch Surfmusik machten.

Im Studio kamen allerdings super Leute wie Carol Kaye (bei Good Vibrations) zum Einsatz.
