Playing Chopin's Heroic Polonaise in my solo recital in Dar Al-Athar Al-Islameya, Kuwait. The concert took place on January 11th,2012 at 7 pm. This Polonaise is one of the most famous works of the great Polish composer.

As to my playing, I know there are mistakes, but this work was prepared within 12 days ONLY for this recital. I played as well Chopin's Op.24 mazurkas and Beethoven Sonata Op.2, No.3. So, this piece is the youngest out of all the other pieces.

  • What is the grand piano model? Because It seems to sound a bit overbright. I don't know if it's piano, microphone or accoustic which causes it

  • @pianodesu

This is D model Steinway! Believe it or not, the microphone was placed INSIDE the piano! So, the sound was utterly horrible! Moreover, this piano is very new and no more than 6 months old! This is why the sound is very uncomfortable, along with the lower register of the piano being much louder than the higher register. It was very problematic to try and get the voicing of the higher notes with such a problem. Thank you for your words!

Sorry for the late answer! I have no idea what kind of microphone it is. It is a very small one inserted into the piano as I mentioned previously. However, you can see the GREAT difference between this so-called professional recording Vs. the normal handheld video camera with good quality recording and not exterior mics /watch?v=r28ndDeOgGs&feature=related ! This was recorded during the same concert, and here I play the 2nd movement of Beethoven's Op.2, No.3.

  • @pianodesu What about the microphone? What model was it?

  • @LisztofKuwait So the conclusion is that even the best mark grand piano can sound horrible if It's not recorded properly or the worst grand piano can sound good if recorded correctly :) . There are so much coefficients that makes the music beautiful. I have a rosler grand piano at home and It sounds nice on live but when I record it, It really hurts my ears.

  • Very mature playing, by the way.
