I still have this match on VHS somewhere. This is one of the best performances of a Swiss national team ever. Shame that we were cheated out of the World Cup against Spain. Brazil was the number one in the 90s. Now it's Spain. This Swiss team went on to beat Turkey and Sweden in the qualifying for Euro 1996. Then a disappointing tournament in England and we didn't qualify for any tournament until 2004.

Thank you for posting this match. It has to be said that this result was indeed a true surprise and a tremendous performance for Switzerland. Scoring 4-1 against the team who beated the shit out of Argentina, is indeed a great performance and a huge bad luck for Romania.
Anyway, nowadays both teams are bad. Switzerland losing 1-2 against Louxembourg and Romania ending draw with Albania :( .

This game proved fateful for Romania in more than one way - apart from the loss, the goalie Stelea was exchanged for Prunea, who in turn cost Romania the semifinals by being such an idiot. Stelea was actually a good goalie in my opinion, did well against Colombia, but the whole team just short-circuited in this game.
