Hey BrooklynMonk -- thanks for this.  We've got a free-thinking Judo/Krav Maga-RBSD/Grappling/Striking training group down here in Indonesia. One of the guys is documenting traditional silat. My question was - why didn't Muay Thai reach island southeast Asia. This shows the link between MT & Silat. Some of Kru Jak's moves are very similar to sequences we've seen in traditional Betawi (Jakarta's indigenous ethnic group) silat down here. Sent the link to my buddy.

Yeah kru jak is really a special guy. when i go back to malaysia i will try and live in the same neighborhood so i can train with him a lot.

There's a hotel just 10 minutes walk away from the studio :o) It is clean and has sports facilities, gym, swimming pool, etc. About RM80-100 a night.

that sounds good but i rented a room in an apartment next to the gym for $100 USD for one week. so even cheeaper.
